The second shop tour on my trip to New York City was the lovely toy store Acorn. Upon entering I immediately felt nostalgia for Germany. Acorn is a well curated shop that carries beautifully crafted European wooden toys, select furniture, games, and unique clothing and artwork by New York designers and artists. A few of the brands you will find are: Hand crafted Oestheimer wooden animals, Artwork by Ida Pearle and Sarah Nicholas Williams, Offi tables and chairs, mobiles from Tamar Mogendorff, Jess Brown dolls, Coral and Tusk pillows, and seedling art kits.
Acorn was established in 2004 by Diane Crespo and Karin Schaefer. They specialize in toys that inspire children to explore and expand their imaginations. Acorn offers heirloom quality products that use environmentally sustainable practices and materials made by artisans. Not only does Acorn support environmental sustainability and artists, but they donate a percentage of their sales to both national and international schools and organizations that provide services for children.
If you are visiting New York City I definitely recommend a visit to this beautiful shop. I had such a great time soaking in all the toys and decor. I was particularly in heaven enjoying the large selection of Oestheimer animals and figures (Both my mother and I collect them). If you can't make it to New York you can shop online here.
